Do I Need to See an MD Before Scheduling Therapy?

Nope. In the Commonwealth of Virginia, we have 60 days of Direct Access Care. That means that any treatment within a 60 day window for a single condition, does not require a referral or prescription. Update: starting July 1, 2023, Physical Therapists will have unrestricted Direct Access. At which point, we can treat any condition for as long as necessary without a referral or prescription from your physician.

As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Dr. C is able to determine if the cause of your condition is within her scope of practice or if you should seek further medical testing to establish safety. Regardless, Dr. C believes that teamwork often results in the best outcomes for patients. Dr. C asks that you provide the information of another established medical provider to maintain open lines of communication regarding your care.

If you have a script, awesome, bring it with you to your evaluation. If you don’t have one, awesome, you can come for an evaluation.
