ABOUT

We are meant for more than survival.

It’s time to Thrive!

Hi, I’m Dr C.

Whether you want to rehab any injury or prevent one, do more yoga or just feel more energized throughout the day, there is a program for you!

At Thrive with Dr. C, the goal is to support you throughout the health continuum. There is power in the collaboration between provider and patient/client. At the end of the day, the only person who can do the work of personal improvement is you. I would be honored to provide the care, resources, information, and guidance necessary to help you get wherever you’d like to go!

Our Story

Thrive with Dr. C is owned and operated by Dr. Candace Harding PT, DPT, OCS, COMT, PYT-c. While matriculating in The George Washington University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, Dr. Harding was taught the importance of treating patients using the biopsychosocial model, taking into consideration personal, emotional, and social factors that impact someone’s pain experience. It wasn’t until taking her first job that she began recognizing just how often those factors may drive someone’s pain, inflammation, potentially inhibit healing and return to prior level of function. Yoga first entered her life as a means of exercise to replace dancing- something Dr. C did for 19+ years. Eventually, she realized benefits past movement and completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training while obtaining her DPT. This is how the desire to blend the practices of yoga and physical therapy started. Upon introduction to Dr. Ginger Garner, PT, DPT, , she dove into the studies of lifestyle medicine and medical therapeutic yoga taught with evidence-based medicine designed for interdisciplinary use amongst licensed healthcare providers.

Through the furthering of her post-doctoral education in the previously mentioned areas and an advanced study of orthopaedic practice, culminating in Board Certified Specialty in Orthopaedics, Dr. Harding began incorporating her knowledge with patient care and achieving greater outcomes with highly functional and medically complex patients alike. The confines placed on orthopaedic practice in a traditional, insurance-based setting makes comprehensive clinical care challenging to deliver. It, also, isolates a sector of population that wants to mitigate future or further injury.

For example: At Thrive with Dr. C, we care if you can’t run >3 miles without pain. In a traditional setting, it is a risk that insurance won’t pay for treatment because running > 3 miles is not an “Activity of Daily Living.”

We would like to help you before your activities of daily living are impacted.

This practice was born out of a desire to do things differently, providing comprehensive care customized to each person, ongoing access and support to your therapist, transparency on cost and plan of care from day one, and not to mention a refreshing perspective on physical therapy.
